IKEA PAX Wardrobe Disassembly and Reassembly Service

IKEA PAX Wardrobe Disassembly & Reassembly

IKEA's PAX is the most popular wardrobe system in North America, and the most painful to move. The cam locks, the dowels, the sliding doors with their hidden brackets, the soft-close mechanisms, the wall anchors. All of it has to come apart in a specific order or the frame warps, the doors won't realign, and the cam locks strip. We've disassembled and reassembled hundreds of PAX wardrobes across the DMV.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can a PAX wardrobe survive being disassembled and reassembled?

Yes, if done in the correct order and without over-tightening the cam locks. We've done this hundreds of times with full success.

  • What if some of the PAX cam locks are already stripped?

We assess all hardware before starting. If cam locks are stripped, we source replacements from IKEA's spare parts supply before reassembly.

  • Can you change the PAX layout when you reassemble it?

Yes. If you want a different door configuration or internal fitting layout at the new home, just let us know.

  • How long does PAX disassembly take?

A 3-unit PAX system with sliding doors takes approximately 2-3 hours to disassemble. Reassembly takes a similar amount of time.

  • Do you remove the wall anchors and touch up the drywall?

Yes. Wall anchor removal and minor spackle are included.

  • Can you disassemble a wall to wall PAX that spans the full room?

Yes. Full-width PAX configurations are one of our most common jobs. We're experienced with ceiling-height and angled-ceiling variants as well.
